I planted seeds of scarlett runner beans and sweet peas along my alder fence thinking how beautiful it would look to have them entwining themselves through the fence. Well, the slugs ate the scarlett runners soon after they emerged from the soil and the sweet peas needed more sun and did not thrive beyond about an inch. So my fence remained bare. Until these sweet white flowers decided to come through on their own accord in a way that I never could have forseen or have planned...
