The light green on the water is actually the white of a humpback whale (flipper or underbelly). They seem to like to come close - appearing on one side of the boat, disappearing underneath, and then resurfacing on the other side. It is impossible for me to find the words to describe what it feels like to be so near these magnificent, gentle creatures. Bliss comes close!

day 13 ~
I planted seeds of scarlett runner beans and sweet peas along my alder fence thinking how beautiful it would look to have them entwining themselves through the fence. Well, the slugs ate the scarlett runners soon after they emerged from the soil and the sweet peas needed more sun and did not thrive beyond about an inch. So my fence remained bare. Until these sweet white flowers decided to come through on their own accord in a way that I never could have forseen or have planned...

august break ~
I thought I would !appear! and say hi...those that have known me a long time may notice that although I appear to be changing, my hair never really does!
Which reminds me of the serenity prayer, which I have been saying a lot recently. It does assist me in these amazing times.
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.
This photo is a self-portrait for august 01, 2010, in which I join Susannah Conway and lots of others in a plan to take a photo and post it every day for the month of August. You can read about the plan here:Which reminds me of the serenity prayer, which I have been saying a lot recently. It does assist me in these amazing times.
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.
